Empowering Immigrant Women in Leadership

In our community, we recognize the unique strengths and challenges that immigrant women face as they strive to become leaders in their new surroundings. Our initiative is dedicated to empowering these women, providing them with the tools, resources, and support they need to thrive and lead.

Our Programs

Leadership Development (Bilicsan)
We offer leadership workshops and mentorship opportunities designed to strengthen the leadership skills of New Mainers women. This program empowers participants to build confidence, develop advocacy skills, and take on active and influential roles within their families, organizations, and broader communities.

Health and Wellness (Iftin)
Through culturally responsive health education and accessible resources, we support New Mainers in prioritizing their physical and mental well-being. Our programming promotes healthy lifestyles, increases awareness of preventive care, and provides vital information on early detection and prevention of chronic illnesses, including cancer.

Bilow Caafimaad (Healthy Start)
Bilow Caafimaad is a culturally informed early intervention program that supports New Mainers families in recognizing early signs of autism and accessing timely, appropriate services. The program emphasizes education, early screening, family support, and connections to community-based resources, all delivered within a culturally safe and supportive environment.
Educational and Employment Empowerment (Waxbarashada iyo Shaqooyinka)
Our educational programs expand access to quality learning opportunities that help New Mainers build skills, confidence, and pathways toward self-sufficiency. We also support employment through skills training, job readiness workshops, and job placement assistance.
As part of this initiative, we offer a five-week Basic Money Management program that provides practical financial literacy education. Participants learn how to create and manage a budget, understand income and expenses, save for short- and long-term goals, use banking services, and make informed financial decisions that support household stability and long-term economic independence.

Homeownership Empowerment Program (Guri Yeelasho)
The Homeownership Empowerment Program supports low-income individuals and families on their journey toward safe, stable, and affordable homeownership. The program provides culturally responsive education, guidance, and resources to help participants understand the home-buying process and build long-term financial stability.
Through workshops and one-on-one support, participants learn about credit building, budgeting for homeownership, saving for a down payment, understanding mortgages, and navigating the home-buying process. The program also addresses common barriers immigrant families face, including limited credit history, language access challenges, and lack of familiarity with U.S. housing systems.
Our goal is to empower families with the knowledge and confidence needed to make informed housing decisions and achieve sustainable homeownership.
